With 45 years of experience in municipal government, Charles Orth understands what Northfield needs. He believes as the Village President, his job would be to listen and work with the community, making sure no issue — big or small — goes unheard. Charles wants every resident to know that the village board is here to work for them, and with them.
"Charlie has proven again and again how much he cares about his community and village employees."
William Lustig | Former Northfield Chief of Police

Charles remains a steadfast champion for Northfield’s local businesses, recognizing them as the backbone of our community’s strength and future success.
He recently advocated alongside them in the effort to halt the Happ Road roundabout project. Looking ahead, he is eager to collaborate with business owners and residents to guide future development in downtown Northfield.
In recent days, you may have seen a flyer and an anonymous letter circulating regarding Charles Orth's position on video gaming in Northfield. The letter quotes Charles as saying that he “felt it was important to do anything to help the businesses.” That’s not controversial - it’s true. Charles does feel strongly about doing everything we can to champion our small businesses. And in 2023 he did vote in support of the effort from Stormy’s to seek approval to install two video gaming machines in their establishment.
However, Charles does not support the widespread deployment of these gaming machines in Northfield. Pushing for gaming machines in Northfield has not been part of his campaign, and it never will be.

Charles has served as a Northfield Village Trustee, President of the St. Philip the Apostle School Board, member of the Northfield Village Caucus, the Cub Master for Pack 17, and member of the Northfield Traffic and Transportation Committee.

Charles has worked to support public safety through infrastructure and institutions.
He will continue to work closely with residents to address safety concerns in the community, and guide the village board to provide the police and fire departments with the resources they need to keep Northfield safe for everyone.

Charles served at the Northfield, Wilmette, Highland Park, and Libertyville fire departments over his 45 year career.
